THE HANGOVER by Todd Phillips

the hangover - embitterment level - disappointment level
Did you ever wake up in the morning with an excellent headache and had problems remembering last night? And you had no idea why there was a chicken in your living room, a tiger in your bathroom and a baby in the closet? Phil, Stu and Allen (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis) suffer from the hangover of a lifetime after the Las Vegas bachelor party of their buddy Doug (Justin Bartha). And there is one more silly little thing – where is Doug? The three have to find him in time to bring him to his wedding with Tracy (Sasha Barrese), and so they embark on a quest to retrace their steps from last night to find out where they lost Doug. Throughout their endeavor they encouter the stripper Jade (Heather Graham), Mike Tyson (himself) and some rather strange folk.

“Now remember, what happens in Vegas stays, in Vegas… Except herpes, that shit will come back with you.”

Rumor has it that The Hangover is loosely based on a true story (but has been severly rewritten). Maybe that’s the reason it’s a film with a heart. And it’s great fun to watch – The Hangover is probably the funniest movie of the year, maybe the funniest since Superbad. The gags are fresh, original and right on target, the situations hilarious and the comic timing faultless. Talking about original – there is a slight feeling of Dude, Where’s My Car? Part II – The Grown-Up Version, but in a good way.
If you are going to see only one summer comedy in the theatre this summer, make it The Hangover!
