IRON MAN 2 by Jon Favreau
Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), while having restored world peace as Iron Man, learns that the Palladium core of his arc reactor – while keeping him alive – also poisons him and will soon lead to his death. Keeping his condition a secret, he makes Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) CEO of Stark Industries and hires Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson) as his new assistant.
Since Stark decided to reveal Iron Man’s identity, a new enemy arises – Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), who has a personal grudge against the Stark family, goes after Tony Stark, equipped with his own arc reactor and whip-like high-energy weapons. But Vanko is not the only enemy Iron Man has to face.
As a superhero-movie, Iron Man 2 is only mediocre, which is a huge disappointment after the surprisingly good Iron Man. As a movie, it is even worse than middle-rate.
Iron Man 2 feels like somebody decided to make it all new and fresh and ditched everything that made Iron Man good, or maybe Iron Man 2 was just regarded as something to get over with on the way to prepare the path for the upcoming Avengers movie.
