DORIAN GRAY by Oliver Parker
Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian) is Dorian Gray, the man who stays forever young while his portrait ages for him, in the newest adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray.
The young Dorian Gray is seduced by Lord Henry Wotton (Colin Firth) into a hedonistic lifestyle – live life by the fullest, and damn the consequences. And this comes true for Dorian Gray when he vows he would give everything, even his immortal soul, to stay forever as young as in the portait painted by his friend Basil (Ben Chaplin). From then on, Dorian doesn’t age anymore, but his portait not only ages but becomes the mirror-image of his hideously deformed soul.
Some beautiful photography, bad CGI and a mostly unimpressive performance by Ben Barnes make this more Van Helsing than Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
